September 1, 2011
WOW! The summer is almost over. There are a few rodeos and barrel races
left and then Last Chance September 24th in Okanagon and WBRA Finals
October 8th in Ellensburg.
We are winding up the season and remember that the top 15 in the Open go
to Finals along with the top 10 in the 500 and 2000 novice, with the top
5 in the Youth and Junior standings. Even if you are unable to run at
finals you must enter and pay your entry fee to get your awards.
Last Chance meeting will be before the barrel race this year. I have
very few rule proposals so we will have a very short meeting. We are
going to have a quick recap of the year, rule proposals, Nomination and
voting of officers (Vice President, newsletter editor, Publicity,
Futurity Director, Awards Chairperson and Ways and Means) and then
nominations and voting of the Speciality Awards(Sportsmanship, Horse of
the Year, Rookie (not voted on), Bested Dressed, and Outstanding Service).
Please plan to attend this meeting because we need lots of support from
all the members for the upcoming year.
Be looking for 2012 New Year races coming up. I have a few people
contact me that were looking for dates to put on WBRA races!
See you down the road! Safe Travels!
August 2011
August is just about here! We have picked up on the Rodeos and Barrel
Races in July. We had the WBRA SpeedHorse ShootOut in Moses Lake which
was a success! A big THANKS to all of you who helped out there!
We will hopefully know the location for Finals and Last Chance here
pretty soon. The dates to put on your calendar are Last Chance is
September 24, 2011. We are also having our Annual meeting with this race
so plan to attend. This is the Meeting where we go over all the rule
proposals. REMINDER - Rule proposals are due to me by August 10th.
Please have the current rule, the rule proposed and then an explaination
of why we need to change this rule along with your name. This will help
up understand what is proposed. Finals will be October 8-9, 2011. The
banquet will be October 8th. We are confirming the locations and when we
know them they will be on the website and in the paper!
REMINDER- All novice racers need
to report non WBRA earnings to Sara
Zwarg. This is important to keep up on this! We need to know your
lifetime to stay in the correct novice class.
Good Luck to everyone and drive careful!
Happy 4th of July! It still feels like April, but we are now into JULY!
We had a slow start to June, but ended on a good note at Darrington where
we had $1000 added barrel race with 39 entries! A HUGE thanks to Nick
Bates for putting on the Open and Novice race. We had a great turn out
and hope to have another race there next year!
Reminder that if you have any rule changes those are due August 10th to
me. (katybremner@fairpoint.net or mail 10080 Lyons rd Ellensburg, WA
98926) Please write down the current rule then what you want changed and
a reason why. That will help everyone understand why it needs changing.
We are still working on Last Chance and Finals. So if anyone has
thoughts on locations that would be helpful!
SPEEDHORSE SHOOTOUT is rapidly approaching! Plan to attend the 4-d
Friday night and then the Futurity, Poles, Open ($500 added), Novice
races and our feature race NEVER WON A SADDLE RACE on Saturday and
Sunday. Entries are July 5th so put that on your calendar. The other
information is in the newsletter or on the website!
See everyone down the road!

Thanks to Pat and her crew! IEBRA put on the Bull O Rama race in Rosalia and will be putting on a race in Clayton during the Colville Rodeo. At the end of the month there is a $1000 added race in Darrington. May 2011
Howdy-
Our season is well on the way! Spring Fling was a HUGE success a HUGE
thanks to Jackie Gudmundson and her wonderful committee. We had a good
turnout and a super potluck! A great arena in Gold Bar. I hope we can
have more races there:)
The first weekend in May was a huge success in Ellensburg with 23 in the
Open race on Saturday and 28 in the Open on Sunday! Kym LaRoche ran the
fast time of the weekend with a 17.2 ! Wow, I think that might be a
record at Ellensburg. Thanks to everyone that came. We had some of the
biggest novice classes ever! On Sunday, there was 19 in the 500 novice.
Hope to see everyone the weekend of May 14th in Ellensburg! Sure to be a
super day!
IEBRA is starting their races up in Davenport on Mother's Day. They have
quite a few races going on this year so be looking for them.
The WBRA SpeedHorse Shootout has more information on the Website. Their
first payment is due MAY 15th so if you are going to run in the Derby or
Futurity get the entry form online.
Rodeos are getting going at the end of this month. Be sure to watch out
for the entry dates since they are earlier than Barrel Races.
Hope all you Mothers out there have a super MOTHER'S DAY! See you down
the road!
Katy Bremner
Welcome new members! Just a friendly reminder that if you are a first
year WBRA member and are running in the Open, you are eligible for
Rookie of the Year and need to let me know that you are a Rookie. For
old and new members, there was a rule change made for the 2011 year that
requires all Open members to run in 9 Open races to eligible for year
end awards. Also, your Open nomination has to be paid before any
winnings will count toward the standings. Please be sure to read your
rulebooks as you are responsible for knowing the rules. Hope to see you
all down the road and safe travels!
Denene Douglas
WBRA Vice President
Attention Novice Entries: email pre-entries are meant for race entry day and that if you enter earlier than that, your lifetime winnings are still counted up to the day of call-in entries and you may need to re-enter on entry day to adjust what class you run in

November 2010
Howdy -
The Halloween Race was a HUGE success! We had so many old and new members. I really didn't expect to see so many people still riding their horses. The costume class was a big hit! I am getting pictures rounded up and will send them in to be put on the website and the Cowboy Digest, so keep checking back for those. Thank to everyone that participated!! Ryann Mitchell (Ballerina Princess) was out costume winner. She was adorable.
Hope everyone is planning to go to Selah and Moses Lake for our next WBRA races. These should be some good races and I look forward to seeing everyone rain or snow :o)
Note the new approval in JANUARY! A HUGE thanks to Jackie Gudmundson for doing this in Monroe again.

The season has almost came to an end. We do have another New Year's Race in
Ellensburg, thanks Katy!!
When you receive this we will have had Last Chance Weekend, voted in new
officers and rule changes. Thank you everyone that stepped up and helped make
the races run smooth. I would also like to thank my husband & son for raking
during the races. When you see any of the new or old officers, please tell them
thank you for stepping up and volunteering. It is a thankless job but each
association needs people that are willing to step forward to make it better. I
have had a great time working with the board that I have worked with for the
last two years. I have had a lot of personal issues arise during my tenure and
the board has been a great support. Thank you to everyone that I served with
each of you have done a great job!
Finals in Ellensburg are just around the corner, remember even if you aren't in
the top call in and enter, you never know when someone won't be able to attend.
Katy has done a great job in setting up the arena and banquet for finals.
Please plan on attending and cheering on the top competitors in each division,
coming to the banquet and then riding in the New Year's race on Sunday.
Thank you WBRA members.

President
Open Riders, please check your amounts against ours and make sure we agree as it
is getting close to the end of the season.
Thanks,

ATTENTION NOVICE LADIES!
We are nearing the end of the season and we are in need of sponsors so that we
can have cool year-end awards! I have a sponsor letter that I can send you by
email or mail you some copies of, just give me a call
(503)504-1578 or email me at karen@rockinmranch.biz and I can get you it. You
will see that in the standings I have now put a box around the top 10; that is
to remind you that top 10 in each division will be
eligible to compete at finals and receive year-end awards. It would be really
great if those of you running and competing for those top 10 coveted positions
could be trying to get at least one sponsor! I am
hoping to get at least all the same sponsors that I got last year, but more
would greatly help since we have had a year of small races and therefore less
money coming in towards awards. If you get a sponsor
please make sure and have them make the check out to WBRA and it can be sent
directly to Lynn (as long as you specify it is for novice awards), or you can
send it to me and I will take care of getting it
to her. Please make sure and get a business card from the business so that we
can give them proper advertising on the website and in the finals program. I
will need to know the amount of any sponsorship
received, so I know how much money I have to buy awards. I have already gotten
started, but I am hoping to get more things! We also have a couple of races
coming up in Odessa (September 11th &
12th) that are novice benefit races. We have average awards, so please plan on
attending and helping out. Please continue to contact me with any questions,
concerns, money won outside WBRA, and money won
in WBRA open or at WBRA sanctioned rodeos, remember I generally only receive
novice results! I hope to see everyone at the races in Odessa!

August 2010, From the President...
Wow, where has the summer gone? It seems like we just started to have the sunny warm weather and we are going into the last month of summer. As the summer began, we all wondered if we were ever going to have a race because it seemed to rain every day. IEBRA had to cancel the first couple approvals because the arenas weren’t safe to compete in. The weather finally changed to heat that we would start to complain about. Are we never happy?
Some of the standings are really close. It is great to see everyone out there competing while having fun, keep up the great work ladies.
We do have some business to talk about. The races have been small this year; we need everyone’s help in securing funds for year-end awards. Our division directors are doing great jobs by holding races to benefit each of the divisions and securing sponsorships, but I know they would appreciate your help. If you know of a business that would be willing to sponsor, I’m sure the division director’s would be happy to send you a sponsorship letter.
We are currently working on Last Chance and Finals. Be on the lookout for the approvals in the upcoming newsletters. If you signed up to work on one of these committees, you will be contacted shortly.
Last Chance will be held in Davenport, September 25th. We will be having a doubleheader on Saturday and end the day with a Potluck BBQ and the annual membership meeting Saturday evening. During the meeting we will recap the year vote on rule changes and elect officers. The following offices are up for election: President, Secretary/Treasurer, Novice Director, Youth/Junior Director and the Website Editor. Please think about stepping up and serving as one of our elected officers.
I need to have your rule change as soon as possible. They need to be submitted for printing in the 1st newsletter of September per rule 1.3.2. Remember to include your reason for the rule change proposal.
We will be holding Finals in Ellensburg, October 9-10th. I want to thank Katy Bremner for stepping up and securing the Ellensburg Arena and the Banquet facility. We have a different format planned for the weekend. Please plan on coming and enjoying a weekend full of barrel racing and friendship.
Good luck to you all.

Hello Ladies,
First off I would like to start off by saying congratulations to Peyton Rose for becoming the Washington Junior High School Rodeo Associations Champion Barrel Racer for 2010! The competition was tough but she managed to come out on top. She will be heading to Gallup, New Mexico at the end of June along with several other wonderful competitors from Washington. GO WASHINGTON……. If anyone would like to know more about the Washington Junior High School Rodeo Association feel free to contact me with your questions.
I would like to send out a THANK YOU to Randy and Cheyenne Allan for becoming a returning sponsor for the Youth and Juniors! We greatly appreciate all that you two do for the WBRA……
Our fundraiser has come to an end and we brought in an additional $400 that we didn’t have before! Please remember to give Tina and Cassie Hansen a big THANK YOU for putting the fundraiser together. Remember, I will be giving something away to the person(s) that brings in the most money for the Youth/Juniors at the end of the season so continue to bring those sponsorships in.
See everyone soon,
Rebecca Rose

Thank you to everyone who attended the Ellensburg race in March, it was a great turnout and Katy was generous enough to put on the race and donate the proceeds to the novice! Thank you so much Katy! I have been recieving a lot of emails from people reporting their outside earnings, I want you to all know how much I appreciate this. Everyone has been reporting their non-WBRA earnings in such a timely manner, it makes my job so much easier, so THANK YOU! Kristi Knapp has asked me to share with the membership that she will be having an Ed Wright clinic at her arena this summer, August 14th and 15th. The cost is $390 per horse/rider and is open to 10 riders. There is a $200 non-refundable deposit due by May 31st and the remaining balance is due by July 15th. For more details or to send your deposit, please contact Kristi at 35420 N Arlington; Deer Park, WA 99006, 509/276-6845 or 509/994-7529 or knappk@q.com. Our next race is spring fling, I hope to see everyone there. Please start thinking about any of your local business that you might be able to ask for sponsors. I would like to challenge all the novice people to try and get at least one sponsorship this year to go towards our year end awards! If you would like my sponsorship letter please let me know and I can either mail you a copy or email it to you. Thanks! Karen
Attention Novice gals -
Thank you to everyone that has been emailing me updating their horses' lifetime
earnings. It has been great for everyone to be so on top of things! I look
forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming races. Please start thinking of
possible sponsors for novice awards. When you are out and about in your town
look around and think of who you might be able to ask for even a $25 or $50
sponsorship. If everyone was able to get at least one $50 sponsor it would
really help out the novice awards. I will be getting a letter ready to email out
to my novice email list that you can take to sponsors. Last year was my first
year ever going out and asking for sponsorships and I was amazed at how much
generosity I found in my small town. Think of your vets, farriers, feed stores,
and even the other places you frequent! If you are not on my novice email list
yet, please email me at
karen@rockinmranch.biz and I will add you to it. As always if there are any
discrepancies with my records, please feel free to email me or contact me by
phone! Thanks! Karen
Happy Holiday’s everyone……
With the Fall Series that was held in conjunction with Karen Mitchell to benefit both the Novice Divisions and the Youth/Junior Divisions, we were able to kick start the 2010 season off with great success! We acquired some new members which I would like to personally welcome to the WBRA Youth and Junior Division:
Jessica Johnson – Youth member
Chantill Burrill – Youth member
Hailey Millsap – Junior member
These young ladies have already shown their competitive edge and each one will be a force to be reckoned with this season!
Along with our Fall Series, Karen and I offered a 4d race along with our WBRA races. It was nice to see the two formats come together and support one another! Congratulations to everyone that received an average award during this series. It was a lot of fun and be on the lookout for a Spring Series…….
Now is a good time to be bringing in sponsorships while everything has slowed down and we are into the winter months. I have a sponsorship letter available so please contact me if you need one immediately. We will accept any amount of money or donation to help the Youth/Junior Division from anyone!
Also, I would love to hear some ideas of ways to earn money throughout the year! If you have any ideas feel free to forward them to me and I will see what can be done. One idea thus far is to have an early Spring parking lot sale (i.e. yard sale) somewhere central for everyone. Sounds like fun and think of all the stuff that we could collect from people while they are doing their spring cleaning!
As a reminder, it is extremely important to know the association’s rules. If you can’t find an answer to your question please contact me or another director for guidance.
Have a Safe and Happy Holiday!
Your Youth/Junior Director
Rebecca Rose
