"FLIT"

    Every equestrian soul in my barn carries a different plan for me
    They come in the form of dreams I try and achieve
    Some are teachers, with lessons every day
    Some guide me to help when I have lost my way
    Over the years their Spirits have built my barn up
    And the tracks made around my place, from their swift Gallup
    My home, my life, my breath is defined by who they are to me
    Their loyalty, devotion, and heart is the ultimate love I learned to see
    So when I have to say good bye to one of them, as that time sometimes comes
    I try not to be weak from sorrow and loss, because that is not where I am from
    I am from their great strength and power, for that power will see me through
All the hard times and disappointments that life sometimes hands over to you
And that strength has surfaced time and time and again
And just most recently it helped me with saying goodbye to my friend
The one I called Flit, holding so many special traits
Starting with the legendary bloodlines, that are so hard to duplicate
You with your never ending mind of your own
You learned your lessons on your time and showed me how you've grown
Your never ending Stamina, you're a heart that would not tire
The ultimate definition of tough, you were just like your sire
From long, hard, dusty days of gathering cattle, you were there
When it came to ranching, we were, the hard to beat pair
When it was a job you liked to do, or a lesson you wanted to learn
Your definition of how great you are is what you earned
But if you were unsure, or didn't like what you see
You let me know, loud and clear, this was not going to be
But above all and all, your beauty inside and out was an incredible sight
Your amount of strength and pride stood with such powerful might
Why did your time with me end so early I will ask?
Will you feel my love always so forever it will last?
I will ask these questions, now and then forever
Yet in my heart I know I have no control over any of our time together
All of you in my barn, are cherished every moment of every day
I thank the good Lord for you being in my life in every way
Your Spirit along with the rest, will keep my life whole
For that is what I have inside of me, I call my soul
